2001-1. Introduction to Rotary Sample Divider, Rotary Splitter, Spinning Riffer

Rotary sample divider is a type of sample spinner or sample divider. It uses frequency controlled rotary motor and vibration-controlled device to optimize the sampling. It is much more superior to the traditional manual splitter and has been widely used in lab powder analysis applications. It has become the most frequently used representative sampling in many industries.

What is applications of spinning riffers? Spinning rifflers are widely used in industries of mining, pharmaceutical, blends and mixtures, food powders, spices and grains, drink powders etc. Usually a rotary sample divider can divide larger samples into 8 portions or 6 portions.

Is the sample division repetitive? Yes such process is repetitive since operator can refeed the divided sample into the circular vibrating bowl and divide it into another 6 or 8 divisions.

What are major parts of a rotary sample divider? A rotary sample divider comprises of a rotating test tube holder and a vibrating sample feeder.

How to achieve accurate divisions of powder sample? Control both the delivery rate and the rotation rate and balance them, operator will get repetitive and accurate divisions of powders.

What does test tubes do during test? The test tubes rotate and collect sample at fixed speed(low, metdium, high) or adjustable speed.

What if initial sample quantity exceeds the capacity of the rotary sample divider vibratory bowl? In such case feed sample completely into the rotary sample divider vibratory bowl, after it is completely divided, fill additional samples into the vibratory bowl and divide successively until sample dividing is finished.

How to get desired sample size? After all the material has been delivered into the test tubes, further reduction in sample size may be accomplished by emptying the contents of one or more of the test tubes into the
vibrator and repeating the procedure until the desired sample size is achieved.

What is the significance of a sample handling? A representative sample handling contributes to faultless and comparable analysis.
